Operation “On the Refugees' Path”: On the Road in Quebec
January 8-13, 2008
East of Quebec

The Rights & Democracy Delegation at the Université Laval presents Operation “On the Path of Refugees”, a raid on the roads of Quebec from January 8 to 13, 2008. Six members of the Delegation will take on this challenge to bring public awareness to issues related to the integration of refugees.
As part of the Delegation’s year-long awareness activities, the winter journey is both a symbolic challenge and an original way to question notions of welcoming and openness. To do this, the members, carrying only $2 per day, which corresponds to the level of the world poverty line, will travel to Rimouski, Sainte Anne-des-Monts, Gaspé, Matane, Rivière-du-Loup and Quebec City.
The members will be equipped with video cameras, which will allow them to document their personal experience on the road, as well as their experiences with those they meet on the journey. A documentary will be produced from this footage, and will be presented on World Refugee Day, April 4, 2008 at the Université Laval, as well as at during the “On the Refugees’ Path” event to be held this year in downtown Montreal in May 2008.
