Introduction

The Rights & Democracy Network (the Network) is accepting contributions and applications from students in Canadian universities and in universities abroad for the multimedia component of the first issue of the Rights & Democracy Network Magazine (the Network Magazine). Under the theme of Culture, Human Rights and Democracy, the first selection of contributions will be published online in February 2007.

The Magazine will be launched at the Western Regional Mingler of the Network that will be hosted by the Rights & Democracy Delegation at First Nations University (FNU) in Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada) in February 2007. This event will feature selected contributions in an exhibit type format as well as interactive discussions among students, faculty, elders, artists, and other experts in the field. Representatives of the Rights & Democracy Delegations from the universities of British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon (Canada) will be invited to the event to take part in the discussions. Subject to the availability of funds, some of the contributors outside of those provinces and territory may be invited to present their work.
