About the World Urban Forum
The World Urban Forum will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, from June 19th to the 23rd to address the challenges posed by rapid urbanisation and the impact it has on communities, cities, economies and policies.
The Forum will bring together partners from non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, urban professionals, academics, governments, local authorities and national and international associations of local governments who will attack issues surrounding the Forum’s main theme: “Our Future: Sustainable Cities – Turning Ideas into Action.”
These partners will look to create action-oriented proposals to foster the sustainable development of cities while simultaneously keeping in mind the challenges of minimizing poverty, improving the urban poor’s access to basic facilities such as shelter, clean water, and sanitation, and achieving environmentally-friendly sustainable urban growth and development.
