Global Event - Online

The Habitat Jam is a global internet-based event to be held December 1-3, 2005, that will involve tens of thousands of people from all walks of life to present ideas on how to solve pressing urban issues.

The World Urban Forum (WUF) is held every two years to discuss urban issues and to develop action-oriented proposals to create sustainable cities. The next WUF will be hosted by the government of Canada in Vancouver, BC in June 2006.

The Habitat Jam will bring together diverse individuals with one thing in mind: debate key issues of urban sustainability in an on-line forum. You will have access to the ideas and experiences of everyday citizens, students, practitioners, slum dwellers, world leaders and celebrities on issues that both interest and concern them. And all these people will access your ideas and proposals as well.

Ideas that come out of the Habitat Jam will be evaluated and included in the agenda of the WUF.

Youth will inherit the world, and in any country that cannot carve out a sustainable future for its cities, youth will inherit their local slums. Youth around the world are drivers of innovation and new ways of thinking, so young voices are needed in the discussion to improve the livability of cities.

Be a participant in an historic event that catalyzes a profound shift towards sustainability worldwide and shape a brighter urban future while widening your own possibilities.
