Network Design The Trophy For The Rights & Democracy AwardThe Rights & Democracy Network is pleased to announce an art contest for Canadian university and college students. Recently, the Board of Directors of Rights & Democracy decided to create an annual prize to honour a Canadian who has made an outstanding contribution to international human rights and democratic development. The first annual Rights & Democracy Prize will be given in 2006. We are therefore soliciting submissions from Canadian university and college students to design the trophy that will be given to the recipient of the Rights & Democracy Prize. The trophy could take the form of a sculpture, a plaque or any other creative form that (i) represents the themes of international human rights and democracy and (ii) will serve as a special memento for the recipient of the prize. As it will likely be displayed on the recipient’s desk or mantelpiece, the prize should not be larger than a toaster. The winner of the trophy contest will be given the following:
The winning trophy will be selected by a jury comprised of three members of Rights & Democracy’s staff. 1st selection: Submissions of project proposals, model desing, and estimations of the costs for its realization must be received by Rights & Democracy by Friday October 7, 2005 at the latest. 2nd round of selection: The trophy produced in its final form by the candidates selected at the first round must be received by Rights & Democracy by Monday December 19, 2005 at the latest.
