UPDATE - NEW INTERNSHIP

Espace Associatif Maroc http://je.free.ma and Morocco Human Rights Association (AMDH) www.amdh.org.ma

Espace Associatif Maroc was created, at the end of 1996, out of an initiative from 30 associations of different backgrounds. Espace Associatif aims to reinforce the capacities of organizations and to promote an associative movement which is democratic, efficient and mobilizes citizens.

Morocco’s Human Rights Association was created in 1979. Its activities focus on human rights and include monitoring the human rights situation in Morocco, educating the public on rights issues and providing rights training to organizations. It also publishes a monthly magazine, reports and leaflets on human rights.

Activities

The participant will have to design and/or improve the websites of both these organizations. He/ she will also be in charge of creating a database on the different human rights challenges covered by both these institutions, and ensure a regular update of their archives and websites.

The intern will also collaborate to the drafting of articles for the newsletter of Espace Associatif as well as for the monthly magazine of AMDH. He or she will have to coordinate some of the logistical work required to publish these documents.

Requirements

• University degree in communications, social sciences or a related field (specifying its relevance);
• Knowledge of organizations devoted to human rights issues in North Africa (a volunteer experience in North Africa would be an asset);
• Research experience in the field of human rights as well as experience with the creation of databases;
• Knowledge of how to build a website;
• Ability to work in a computerized environment, using search engines, email and Internet, knowledge of programs to build a website is essential;
• Good ability to communicate in French and Arabic.

Location: Morocco
Start date: September 2006
