Everyone who has been involved in the Network is acquainted with Cynthia Gervais. From the very inception of the project, dating to a little over four years ago, she has been coordinating its program of activities so dear to her heart. She has contributed strongly to the Network’s progress to date, in particular by listening to students and by first attempting to find out more about their interests in order to accompany them in the realisation of their projects. The Rights & Democracy Network is organizing an international retreat in the greater Montreal area (about 45 minutes from downtown Montreal) on September 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2007. "On the Refugees' Path" project is being organized for a third consecutive year. Satellite projects will be organized throughout Canada by different Delegations culminating, in September 2007, with a 24 hour experience of a refugee camp, to be held in Montreal. On March 28, 2007, the Delegation at Laval University presents the first satellite project which will consist in a photo exhibition, conferences on the international protection of refugees and on refugees' integration in Quebec. This year’s Ontario Regional Event will be hosted by the Rights & Democracy Delegation of Glendon College. This event seeks to raise awareness among Delegations of the issues surrounding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and to create a plan for students to implement more ‘conscious’ practices in their own learning environments. The Regional Event will bring together Canadian leaders in CSR from the corporate, humanitarian and banking sectors, to share dialog with students about these important issues. December 6th is Canada’s “National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women”.
