"La Francophonie, Human Rights and Democracy: Dialogues on Youth Perspectives and Opportunities for Action"

February 3 and 4, 2006
Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, Winnipeg , MB

Rights & Democracy Delegation of the Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface is hosting the Rights & Democracy Network's regional event for Western Canada. The theme of the meeting will be "La Francophonie, Human Rights and Democracy: Dialogues on Youth Perspectives and Opportunities for Action.

The Rights & Democracy Network's regional event is a gathering that enables Rights & Democracy Delegation members in Western Canada to meet and discuss various projects undertaken in their community around issues that concern them.

On this occasion, the students will have the opportunity to present their concerns regarding human rights and democracy throughout La Francophonie. They will speak with representatives from various Canadian and international institutions linked to the Francophonie, such as Foreign Affairs Canada and Le Conseil international des organisations de jeunes de la Francophonie (CIJEF). These representatives will be asked to provide them with information about opportunities for youth to collaborate on the development and implementation of La Francophonie initiatives respecting rights and democracy. Jean-Louis Roy, President of Rights and Democracy and former Secretary General of the Agence de la Francophonie (1990 to 1998) will be one of the guests of note at this event, which will have an innovative format.
