Understanding, Imagining, Feeling and Experiencing Human Rights: The “On the Refugee Path” Experience
May 1 to 4, 2008 – Montreal, Quebec, Canada
The Rights & Democracy Network will be celebrating its 5th anniversary this year with a very special National Event. To be held this year from May 1 to 4, 2008 in Montreal, this annual event will be held during the On the Refugee Path project (Sur la piste des réfugiés), presented this year by the UQAM Delegation. This project, which was started three years ago by the Delegation at the Université Laval, includes a 24 hour experience of living in a refugee camp, an information forum, art exhibits, and conferences exploring the diverse realities of refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers around the world.
Gala Event
The event will begin with a gala event at the Studio Juste pour rire in downtown Montreal, featuring an awards ceremony which will honour the best Delegation projects from the last five years. National Event Delegates, Network members, partners, and Rights & Democracy colleagues will be invited to this 5th anniversary soirée.
UPDATE : See the results of the Awards of Recognition in pictures!
All Network members are welcome to attend this event. To confirm your attendance, RSVP before April 29, 2008 by phone (514) 283-6073, ext. 274, or by email at network@dd-rd.ca.
On Refugees' Path Experience
Delegates to the National Event will participate in the 24 hour refugee camp experience, living the unexpected and difficult conditions that refugees face in daily life.
During the rest of the event, delegates will come together to share their experiences of organizing projects on their campuses, as well as to learn more about the Network, and the many ways of promoting human rights and democracy
