Rights & Democracy is proud to be an official sponsor of the 2007 Global Youth Assembly: Reach Out Speak Up! Ignite Change Now, taking place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from August 1-4.
On the Refugees' Path 2007
"On the Refugees' Path" project is being organized for a third consecutive year. Satellite projects will be organized throughout Canada by different Delegations culminating, in September 2007, with a 24 hour experience of a refugee camp, to be held in Montreal. On March 28, 2007, the Delegation at Laval University presents the first satellite project which will consist in a photo exhibition, conferences on the international protection of refugees and on refugees' integration in Quebec. Storytelling and music will close the evening.

Rights & Democracy Network International Mingler on Global Citizenship
The Rights & Democracy Network innovates this year by organizing its first international Mingler in the greater Montreal area from March 21st to 24th, 2007. The 'Mingler' is the main event of the year for the Rights & Democracy Network.
Food to Feed: Freedom from Hunger
The Delegation at Memorial University (Newfoundland) is organizing an event on the the right to food. The Food to Feed event is an information session that will discuss the right to food by bringing together members from the community, community organizations, university students, and non-partisan organizations such as, Rights and Democracy.
Rights & Democracy Network Atlantic Regional Event: Religion and Human Rights
This year’s Atlantic Regional Event will be hosted by the Rights & Democracy Delegation at Dalhousie University. The event will be exploring the relations between religion, gender and human rights. Students from all of the provinces in the region are invited to attend.
Out of the Shadows - Voices from the Global Sex Trade
The event aims to raise awareness of human rights violations directed at women and girls through trafficking in the global sex trade and to encourage participants to take action in their communities.
Electronic Discussion (E-Discussion) Contest on Democracy Promotion
The Rights & Democracy Network invites its members to join the online discussion (E-Discussion) of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) on Democracy Promotion. Many prizes are offered.
I Stand for Human Rights Day
The Rights & Democracy Delegation at Mount Allison University organizes a day where students wear t-shirts proclaiming their support for human rights, and literally stand up in their classes all day, showing their commitment to human rights.
Rights & Democracy Network Ontario Regional Event: USHIFT
This year’s Ontario Regional Event will be hosted by the Rights & Democracy Delegation of Glendon College. This event seeks to raise awareness among Delegations of the issues surrounding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and to create a plan for students to implement more ‘conscious’ practices in their own learning environments. The Regional Event will bring together Canadian leaders in CSR from the corporate, humanitarian and banking sectors, to share dialog with students about these important issues.
Rights & Democracy Network Western Regional Event: Culture, Human Rights and Democracy
The Rights & Democracy Network is organizing its Western Regional Mingler on February 27 and 28, 2007, to be hosted by the Rights & Democracy Delegation at First Nations University, in Regina (Saskatchewan). The first edition of the Rights & Democracy Network Magazine will launch at this occasion.

Call for Contributions - Rights & Democracy Network Magazine
The Rights & Democracy Network (the Network) is accepting contributions and applications from students in Canadian universities and in universities abroad for the multimedia component of the first issue of the Rights & Democracy Network Magazine (the Network Magazine). Under the theme of Culture, Human Rights and Democracy, the first selection of contributions will be published online in February 2007.
Malaspina University-College Delegation Fundraiser Event
On Wednesday December 6, 2006 the Rights and Democracy Network Malaspina Delegation will host the 2nd annual Nanaimo Women’s Centre fundraiser. December 6th is Canada’s “National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women”. This day was created to commemorate the 14 young women who lost their lives in the 1989 shooting at the l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, and to reflect and consider the phenomenon of violence against women and girls in our society.

Rights and Democracy Network National Retreat
The Rights & Democracy Network is organizing a national retreat in the greater Montreal area on September 22, 23 and 24, 2006. The objective of this initiative is to enable our active members across Canada to meet each other, share information and views, and participate in training sessions. The latter will enable participants to deepen their understanding of approaches particular to the Network and strengthen Canadian Delegations’ capacities for reflection and action.
